CHILDHOOD DREAM FULFILLED? - CHECK!

"I still can't believe I am an author."

It hits me everyday. At every book sale or kid's letter to me, or new review (this one is my favorite of all times I think).

But what has really made me smile in that 1o year old, beaming-proudly way is this: I am part of the SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIRS. I still remember getting those wonderful newsprint sheets that get sent home so we can check the little boxes next to the books we'll get. I remember it all - the joy of choosing my own books, the anticipation... and then getting the books handed out and then rushed home to be devoured.

I'm now on that sheet of newsprint. And the kid in me can't wait to get home and tell me all about it - hoping beyond hope to check as many boxes as I want!

Yay! Good for you. I would order it but we have our own copy that we are enjoying right now. Oliver has just fallen through the roof with Antoine - can't wait for the next installment tonight :)

OOH...I am jealous! I remember snuggling in our bed and reading the book aloud as I was writing it.

Hope you keep having fun with it!

Honestly, receiving those Scholastic sheets and choosing my own books are some of my most cherished childhood memories.

I was also a member of the Apple Book Club, so I received a bag every month (I think) with a random assortment of paperbacks and other goodies inside. That's how I discovered some of my favorite authors. And now you're gonna be one of those authors for other kids.

Good times...and congrats!

Jay - Never heard of the Apple Book thing - but wish I'd been in that "club"! Thanks for the memory-swap - I feel like karma has come around to pat my back after all these years of buying any book my son wanted from the Scholastic sheet!

Can't wait to hear about New York!!!

That is a VERY big deal. My kids loved picking out books to order and then I loved adding my own books to order too.

Congratulations, Alan!

Thanks Jen and Camille - it's the small things that always seem biggest! The cool thing was - a guy I worked with a zillion years ago at my first ever TV job wrote me saying his kids came home with the order sheet and he knew it had to be me....
